KLD’s Mission is Twofold:
To address the wellness crisis in the South Dallas Community through a comprehensive provision of health and wellness services in the newly opened MLK Wellness Center to residents and youth in the 75215 zip-code.
To empower the South Dallas/Fair Park community by strategically developing real estate, building essential infrastructure, promoting affordable housing and assisting businesses with start-up support, thereby creating a foundation for economic growth that attracts new businesses, generates job opportunities, and fosters a more prosperous and equitable future for residents.
MLK Wellness Center
an adaptive reuse project in its final phase of construction, set to host for-profit businesses that operate nonprofit or community programs promoting health, wellness, and economic opportunity in South Dallas.
Kingdom South Apartments
a 50-unit housing community providing affordable residences for low-income households and single mothers. In partnership with other housing agencies, a minimum of 12 units will be dedicated to residents requiring additional support services.
Past Projects
Planned projects include small business incubation spaces, workforce training programs, and community-focused commercial developments.
